I wonder what will become of PDM in ten years? Where will we all be? Will PDM just be a fun memory? Will the site still be up and running? Will Susie be married and have kids so she wont have time to keep the site running? How many new shows will there be?
And what about the members? Where will we be in 10 years? Will we be faithful to visit every now and then? Or will PDM just be a cool thing we did in our spare time 10 years ago? Or is it a lifelong committment to visit once in a while?
I dont know. maybe im crazy. just a few thoughts i'd like to share with the rest of you

I think if things are still going good the site will remain somewhat popular on the web. As in where I wil be in 10 years, I'll have a career in gaming and work for a big company like Nintendo or something. Even by then I'll still come to the site, I come every day to see what's goin down and such. So in the end, maybe it's up to us loyal fans on if it still exists or not. Because websites are just like tv shows I think, if no one likes them, they get cancelled.

Loyal fan base or not every shows got a limit.
Look at Freinds or Seinfeld or Everybody loves Ramond.
I don't think this site will be here in 10 years. Susie will use her animation experince to score a high payin job and so will every other realist.
Then this site will be a memory were we can look at people 20 years from now and say "Shut up dickhole" and noone will know were we can up with it.
P.S oh and Keenarnor let me tell ya mate drom experince playing vid games and making then are 2 very diffrent things. Programming get anoyin to the most serious of gamers just look into it before you commit

Yeah I don't know if it will be programming, There are a lot of different positions. I still don't know what all of them are yet, but I'll find out eventually.

I'm trying to get into programming, myself. I've done some before, and quite honestly, the only reason I didn't do so hot was because I was lazy.
If I shake that, I'll probably be working in the gaming business for quite a bit. And I'll still check back here from time to time. It's cool to visit once in awhile.
Of course, if the overall IQ of the community as a whole (not saying the current members here) drops by at least 30, that may change. Then again, it might not.

I think being a video game tester would be the greatest job on earth.

Yeah that would be cool. All you do is play video game, I don't know if there is more to it, but that's what I heard. I'm kinda confused on what I would be because I don't know the difference between most of them, like the difference between a video game programmer, video game producer, video game designer and so on. Does anyone know what the difference is? Cause I don't know.

The video game tester job is pretty difficult, from what I heard. It's also not as satisfying as you may think it is.
1. The games. Obviously, you're going to have to play through them damn near entirely. One thing that most people overlook is the fact that in order to remove as many glitches as possible, you need to replay them repeatedly, even the ones you don't like. In short, if you're the kind of person who beats games, sells them, then uses the money to buy more, this isn't the job for you.
2. What you do in testing. As I said, you need to repeat a game several times, including the trash. In addition, you need to be able to recognize errors, the nature of them, and understand where the hole in programming comes from. This in short finding glitches and exploiting them to the point of knowing exactly how they work. Oh, yeah, and you have to write about it all in detail.
3. Timeframe. From what I hear, the VG tester job has a bit of an oddball schedule. Probably not a problem for some of us, but it could be right when most others are free to engage in their social lives. Not quite sure there, though.
As for the jobs that Keenarnor listed... hrm.
The video game designer is the one who writes down all the ideas, organizes them, and then spells them out to the rest of the people. Think of what Shigeru Miyamoto does.
The video game programmer is the one that handles all the fancy C++ and makes the core and shell of the game. You'd be the one that the testers are talking to about problems. Your work is what makes the game happen.
A producer... huh. That sounds like the group making the game as a whole.
Of course, all of this is speculation, so don't yell at me if I'm wrong.

Yes video game testing is not is fun or easy as you think. A friend of mine works for a big video game company testing games and she works really long hours, writes up long reports on bugs just to find out that the bugs she's discovered have already been discovered by someone else, meaning all the work she had just done was for nothing. It's pretty much everything that Miles has described.
As for where this site will be in ten years, this isn't a television show. I don't have to have network approval to keep this site up the way Seinfeld and Friends and Everybody loves Raymond have to have network approval for. Plus there are a ton of other differences. So you can't really compare us to television.
Most likely, this site will still be here but will be in a different form. ZMT will just be a small section of the site and the primary focus will most likely be on Surviving Together. By that point, I should have a couple of episodes posted of the series. I'm sure the site design will also be completely different. I usually completely revamp my websites designs every couple of years to keep it fresh. Surviving Together is practically a lifelong project. It will take a couple decades at least to complete part 1.
I don't think people will just forget about DBZ. I think in a couple decades it will become trendy to be an "old school DBZ fan."

Maybe the site's popularity will grow. And we all might be the most experienced members of the site, the ones who where there from the beginning, and we'll keep the noobs in order!
